If you've driven through eastern Colorado/Kansas (same thing, right?) you know it's just all brown, flat, prairie. Guess it's the same in the midwest with corn.
It's a bit monotonous.
We just did a quick 48 hours to Dodge City, Kansas.
Part homeschool history, part indoor water park, with some delicious mexican food in Rocky Ford and Garden City.
Had a blast, but to get to it required several hours of brown, flat prairie.
We went with friends and luckily their kids also know that with fun also comes boredom. Podcasts and older aged children have solved the “when do we get there”, but I'd be lying if I didn't want to just skip to the end and be home when it was 8pm and we still had 2 ½ hours to drive.
Skipping to the end just sounds so delightful! But it's that desire to shortcut the process can get us in trouble. It kinda taps that feeling we crave for instant gratification which is defined so well…the desire for immediate satisfaction or pleasure without delay or effort.
It's the reason you feel impatient with the microwave.
guilty😬
It's the reason you go buy a fancy coffee drink instead of making coffee at home.
also guilty🙄
It's the reason waiting in line literally anywhere seems excruciating.
super guilty. 😑
You probably know where this is going, huh?
If you don't take the time to figure out WHY you hate getting dressed, it won't get better.
WHO are you, right now, today?
WHAT part of your life stresses you out the most?
HOW do you need to present yourself in the world?
WHERE do you need to tighten things up or maybe expand a limiting wardrobe?
WHEN are you going to give yourself some space and permission to evolve with your style and clothing?
Yes, that new top you bought (while scrolling late at night!) that you thought would fix your wardrobe woes…probably will go in the donate pile in 6 months.
Yes, that “I can't take it anymore-chuck it all and start over” mentality will get your closet clean…but you'll fill it back up with similar things you just got rid of.
I could go on and on with all the things I've seen over the years…but I promise you, the way to fix it it to do the work. Don't skip to the end, or the cycle continues and you waste an enormous amount of time and money and resources.
If you haven't take the Closet Personality Quiz yet, it's a good way to see the insights into why you shop the way you shop and purge the way you purge.
It won't fix it instantly, but I've got some ideas on how you can get the result you want a little bit faster. 😉
