Breaking Out of Your Fashion Rut with Denver's Expert Clothing Curator and Closet Organizer

Why That

'Perfect Outfit' Is

Sabotaging Your Style

There’s a fun part of going through a closet when I pull a top and grab a jacket and say “What about this?”

Almost immediately, the reply is “I wouldn’t have thought to put that together!”😯

(It’s actually one of my favorite services as a wardrobe consultant and closet organizer-finding a whole new wardrobe with what you already own.)

But, ever notice how that outfit from your subscription box always stays exactly the same outfit? Or those pieces you bought together somehow feel permanently married in your mind. It's like your brain puts them in a little box labeled "these go together" and rarely considers other possibilities.

And isn't it the worst when you read something that declares a style "does not work" for your body type? Or maybe you've abandoned certain styles because someone gave you side-eye, or you got zero compliments, or you just convinced yourself it wasn't working.

Or maybe the opposite? That’s me in tight pencil skirts- all body charts say an hourglass figure looks sexy in a slim skirt. Let’s just say I feel less than sexy. 😬

Any of this sound familiar?

Before you know it, your style becomes increasingly narrow. You buy more of the same things, eye each new trend with suspicion, and tell yourself what you have is "good enough"... then wonder why you're so bored with your wardrobe! This is exactly why many Denver residents seek out professional closet organizing services.

Here's the real problem: shopping for more of the same thing—over time—makes it nearly impossible to create interesting, unique outfits. As a professional Denver closet organizer, I see this all the time, wardrobes filled with limited silhouettes and details. Boredom sets in. And what's your instinct? Shop more!

(Which doesn't help because those shopping patterns lead you right back to grabbing more of the same and then you call me in a panic because you hate everything in your wardrobe!)

Refreshing Your Wardrobe Questions a Denver Wardrobe Consultant Recommends

Let's remove those fashion limitations by examining WHY you stopped wearing certain styles:

Was it someone else's rule? I've had client tell me they heard “you can’t wear horizontal stripes." (Says who?)

(And side note to the side note-have you ever seen vertical stripes in clothing besides the thin stripe of a shirtdress?)🙄

Did you get negative feedback once? You know the kind of comments…."It's not my style, but that's just me." or “Just because you can wear something, doesn’t mean you should.” I'm beyond embarrassed and ashamed to say I've said that behind someone's back -I'd like to say it was because I was young and stupid, but it was really because I was young and stupid and insecure and petty. 14-18 year old Monika wasn't my favorite era.😔  My only saving grace is that it wasn't to their face, so I didn't burden someone else with my meanness. But you've heard the comments before, and they stick like glue. Let's pull it apart- one comment shouldn't dictate our choices forever.

Are you dressing for a different body? Maybe you were a different size once and decided certain silhouettes weren't for you. But that decision stuck even after your body changed. Isn't it time to reconsider? As your Denver wardrobe consultant, I can help you rediscover styles that truly work for you now. If you are ready to play a bit of dress up, we can rediscover styles that truly work for you now.
