There's no shortage of “how to's" and you'll soon be inundated with organizing things that will organize your things. 🙄

I know exactly what you’re doing right now… you’re eyeing those gorgeous storage containers on Instagram, convinced that THIS January, color-coded bins will finally change your life.

(Spoiler alert: They won’t.)

Let’s be honest - we’ve all been there. It’s January 4th, decorations are put away, new healthy eating habits have started and you’re standing in The Container Store, credit card in hand, absolutely CONVINCED that this $247 worth of aesthetic organizing bins will finally… FINALLY… change your life.

(Fun fact: The organizing industry is a $14 Billion dollar industry because they know we’ll be back next January. Same resolution, new bins.)

Here’s the thing… I get it. Those perfectly styled before-and-after photos are an illusion of what could be. And buying pretty containers is WAY easier than doing the actual work of understanding your stuff.

But what if I told you that for about the same investment as your annual ‘new year, new bins’ shopping spree, you could actually break this cycle forever?

REALLY???

〰️

REALLY??? 〰️

Look, I’m not here to bin-shame anyone. (See what I did there? 😉)

But here’s what those perfectly styled Instagram posts, or gorgeous Pinterest pins aren’t telling you:

Good purgers rarely make good shoppers.

You know why? Because next month, you’ll probably be rebuying half the stuff you just Marie Kondo’d into the donation bin.

The problem isn’t your stuff. It’s not even your storage solutions. It’s the relationship you have with your stuff. And no amount of aesthetic acrylic containers is going to fix that.

That’s exactly why I created ‘Resist the Urge to Purge', a 5 week DIY series.  Because instead of dropping another $300 on containers that’ll be cluttering your closet by March, you could learn how to:

  • Truly understand your buying patterns (like my photographer client who finally realized she was a white-button-up girl who kept buying the floral boho tops, because they were pretty!)

  • Stop the expensive cycle of purge-and-repurchase

  • Create a space that works for the life you ACTUALLY live (not the one Pinterest thinks you should have).

And let's be real…you don’t need another set of matching hangers or drawer dividers that’ll turn your closet into an Instagram backdrop.

(I do love a good skinny velvet hanger tho!)

What you NEED is to understand why you keep buying clothes you never wear, storing stuff you don’t need, and thinking that THIS time, the perfect storage solution will fix everything.

Here’s my radical suggestion for 2024: Instead of spending all willy- nilly on more bins and baskets, invest in understanding your stuff. Because once you know why you buy what you buy (and keep what you keep), you’ll:

  • Save money (like, actual hundreds of $$ on future container ‘solutions’ and random clothing purchases)

  • Stop the guilt-purge-rebuy cycle

  • Finally have a space that works for real-life you, not Pinterest you

So here’s your permission slip to SKIP the annual ‘new year, new containers’ shopping spree. Because you don’t need another set of matching bins - you need a system that actually works.

‘Resist the Urge to Purge’ releases in January, and it costs about the same as that cart of containers you were eyeing.

The difference? This investment won’t end up in your donation pile by spring.

If you just want it done, then an in person or virtual session would be the best for you. That's another conversation we can have HERE.

P.S. If you’re standing in The Container Store right now, put down that acrylic drawer organizer. Your wallet (and your future self) will thank me later. 😉
